St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church
Fellowship for Everyone
Celebrating Christ with Music and Fellowship at a
Friendly Episcopal Church in Sarasota, Florida
Music is a vital part of our worship lives at St. Margaret. Music can unite our hearts and souls as the body of Christ and express that which words alone cannot. Music can soothe the mind, heal the heart, calm and uplift the spirit. The primary “choir” at St. Margaret is the congregation – every member is a gift of God and contributes to our corporate voice in worship. Our additional choirs provide musical leadership to the congregation and our goals are to enhance Sunday morning worship, preserve and expand our musical traditions and illuminate the scriptures.
All of the choirs rehearse weekly, enjoying the social fellowship and spiritual growth as well as working continuously to improve their musical skills. All choir members receive a CD to practice with at home, so music reading, while helpful, is not required. New members are welcome at any time, and you may also join short-term to participate in special Easter or Christmas music.
A Joyful Sound Handbell Choir
This 2-octave group of handbell ringers is open to all ages and participates in worship at Christmas and Easter. Rehearsals begin several weeks before each festival worship and are held Tuesdays from 6-6:45 p.m.
Instrumentalists are always welcome! Interested persons should talk to Melinda about playing the melody or a descant on a congregational hymn or playing a special offering piece or prelude.
